Yes be safe Jon and Terese and keep an eye on Debby- as an amateur meteorologist and 40 year hurricane tracker (who did take some courses in college!) these 3+ day tracks are notoriously bad and the forecast of practically a stall off the South Carolina coast for days is not something I would count on. Yes, it can but happen other things can happen as well. Plus, if it is sitting out there, it might strengthen and create rough seas further north.
